On December 14th, nearly 400 eGovernment officers, policy makers and local, regional, national and EU officials will attend the pre-conference "Lift-off towards Open Government" in Ghent, also called the "Flemish Conference on Local eGovernment".

The eGovernment unit of the Flemish Government, LOLA (Linked Organisation of Local Authority ICT Societies) and Smart Cities will present the Citadel Statement, written in cooperation with dozens of eGovernment officials from all parts of Europe, guided by Dr. Julia Glidden.

The aim of the Citadel Statement is to produce a call to action that builds upon the objectives of the Malmo Ministerial Declaration to demonstrate to national Governments how they can best support/promote eGovernment in their own local authorities.

The Citadel Statement will become available on the Smart Cities website after the official launch with the Flemish Minister of eGovernment Geert Bourgeois on December 14th.
