The federal Minister of Economy and ICT, Vincent Van Quickenborne will open and attend the E-Gov Acadamy on Personalised Services in May. His presence is a real support for our project and for the mainstreaming of the results of the work of the partnership.
The city of Groningen hosts an E-Gov Academy on Wireless Services in Groningen on 16 April. On the agenda a variety of lectures and room for debate on the wireless topic. The Smart Cities partners are welcome to join this event. Registration is open from now. Read more.
Customer profiling is important for better targeting customer services and making policy decisions better. This is one of the conclusions of the E-Gov Academy on Customer Profiling held in Norwich. The partners who attended agreed on further cooperating on this issue by doing research pilots and exchanging methods and data.

Edinburgh Napier University and Edinburgh City Council hosted the international conference on ‘Creating Smarter Cities’ in March 2009. The SmartCities project is an international network of councils and academic partners that will spend the next three years finding ways for cities to think smarter, work smarter and plan smarter by delivering better e-services for citizens and businesses.
Norfolk County Council hosts an E-Gov Academy on Customer Profiling in Norwich on 24 March. On the agenda a mix of workshops, lectures and debates about customer profiling. The Smart Cities partners are welcome to join this event.
Edinburgh Napier University and Edinburgh City Council succesfully hosted the conference Creating Smarter Cities. Key challenges facing a Smart City have been discussed by a large group of academics, government officials and national and regional bodies represented.
On 25th February 2009 representatives of the Bremerhaven partners (BIS GmbH, b.i.t. and i-ventions) met the 2nd time to prepare the international project meeting on 2nd to 4th March 2009.
On February 9th 2009 a meeting of the steering group concerning the Smart Cities project took place in the town hall of Osterholz-Scharmbeck.
The North Sea Region Programme published information on the current 28 projects. The Smart Cities project is one of the described projects.
