Benchmarking city e-services

Members of the Eurocities group have developed a benchmarking process for e-services provided by local authorities. The project identified core services and looked at who provided what.

Many of the services are broad areas rather than the sort of specific citizen and business focused services in the UK's Local Government Service List or the forthcoming European Service list, or are about the sort of channels or equipment used as much as the service delivered.

They covered the following areas: Citizen engagement (10 services); Channelling - providing and getting information (10 services); Education (13 services); Employment and Business (7 services) Environment (7 services); Lifecycle (10 services); Social Care (14 services); Transport (6 services); and Urban Planning (4 services).

The report has details of how each of the 14 cities surveyed compare and goes into case studies for each authority.
